Continuing its drive against drug trafficking, Anantnag Police apprehended a drug peddler during a routine naka checking at Sirhama Daiwath Bridge.
A Police team from Srigufwara Police Station intercepted a suspicious individual carrying a nylon bag, traveling from Sirhama Nallah towards Sirhama village. On seeing the Police, the individual attempted to flee but was quickly apprehended by the alert naka party.
The accused has been identified as Mohd Altaf Bhat, son of Bashir Ahmad Bhat, originally from Gonda, Rajouri, and currently residing in Sirhama. Upon searching his bag, approximately 5 kilograms of cannabis powder was recovered and seized on the spot.
A case, FIR No. 94/2024, has been registered at Police Station Srigufwara under relevant sections of law, and further investigation is underway.
Anantnag Police remain steadfast in their mission to combat drug trafficking and safeguard the community from its harmful effects.
